So, you have reached the wedding planning stage where you have a checklist you are working from, your venue is booked and you may have even bought your dream dress. Funny! Depending on the checklist you use (we recommend this one), you may see things like: “get 10 facials, one/week before the wedding” or “get a personal trainer” (uh, rude). Honestly, some of these lists will overwhelm you directly with over-the-top, inappropriate and totally off-base etra At APW, we firmly believe that you should do, look and be exactly yourself on your wedding day and every other day. So if that includes facials and gym memberships, great. If this includes just waking up on your wedding day, wearing the same makeup as other days and doing your hair, good for you. We always suggest that you immediately delete everything that does not suit you in a wedding planning checklist. Seriously. But, if you are looking for DIY/home self-care tips and tricks, you know, the things you can choose to create your own pre-wedding self-care routine… this is the list for you.
I don’t know if it was stress (hello, recent times bride!), or just a random event, but in the months leading up to my wedding, I suddenly began to get huge rashes on my cheekbones (a place where I had never had a single rash before). Constant facials were not in my budget, so I did some extensive research on the internet to find a plan to beat this new unwanted guest who had taken up residence on my face. Because, even though I’m a generally laid back human being and I don’t care much about my makeup routine or my personal trainers, for that matter … I felt like I wanted my face to look like what I had always known I had on my wedding day. I learned a few game-changing things about self-care, and I wanted to share my not-so-secret secrets with all of you.
Just like with our wedding planning checklist, or anything else in life, just take what you think will work for you and measure your budget and leave the rest (or heck, leave everything). These are just a few fun tips and things I like that I hope will help you if you need a little self-care. Plus, new skincare items are much more fun to buy and use than many other wedding and living expenses, so treat yourself!
It’s crazy, that’s for sure. But, listen… with all the research I did while trying to figure out how to deal with my upset skin, I kept seeing people talking about red and sapphire light therapy for acne (local beauticians offered it, but a facial regimen seemed out of reach for me). I love this tool. OMNILU CLEAR CLEAR is a red and sapphire light therapy at home. It’s so easy to use (just put it on a clean face and turn it on), it’s powerful, it’s clinically proven… basically, it’s magic. So if you are dealing with a skin that does not give up … consider this madness… it could change your life.
Okay, for everyday use … this thing is worth its weight in gold. Please trust me. For so many years, I used one of those electric brushes for your face-the ones that were super popular around 2004-ish. And I loved it. But then I got myself this tool. The angels sang. Even my wife, who likes to say “Can’t we just have skin and let it be our skin?”he is passion with stealing and using mine
The ice face roller is a novelty, which I was definitely not sure about. Until I use it. This roll lives in my freezer and comes out every day. The site promises “a mini natural facelift” and although this may be true … my favorite thing is how it helps me relax (literally) and reduce my anxiety. I often use it before going to bed to settle down, calm down and get ready for sleep. I love my ice cream kit and the oil is honestly perfect.
